Moving Day
I love 'Calvin and Hobbes.' If I had a son, I'd want him to be just like Calvin. :)
So, we moved to our new office today. I can’t say I’m overwhelmed with the location, as it’s about seven miles away from where I live, as opposed to the one mile I traveled before. When I started with CC, I started in a building across the road from our present location, so I’m used to how the drive will be, and the area. But still, all I wanted for years was to be on my side of town, in the West End. So we moved to the West End…and now we’re back closer to the city. I avoid the city like the plague because I hate to drive downtown. I hate to drive near downtown. Technically, I’m still in the West End, but to me it’s more of the crappy part of town. *Sigh*
When I bring my camera in here, I’ll get a pic of this desk space. It's a curved desk, which seats three people, all next to each other. I miss the cube already. I have pictures of my old cube, but not on a digital camera. The actual space on the desk is about the same, but now with no walls, and people sitting right next to you. Being one that really needs personal space, I’m hoping this won’t be a problem. I think the noise will be the biggest obstacle. We’ll see I guess!
Exploring a new building is fun. I like to look around and scope a place out. The building itself is very nice: Everything in it is brand new. I said, “Let’s see how long it takes people to mess it up.” Why people can’t all be as careful with things as I am I don’t understand. Haha Oh, right. They’re not all compulsive and insanely neat and clean. ;) I love unpacking and getting things arranged and organized. It’s truly one of my favorite things in life. I’ve moved quite a few times now, in my personal life and for work, and each time I love (LOVE) the unpacking and organizing. It puts a smile on my face. I guess that’s weird, but, such as it is.
Unfortunately my ‘personal shelf’ has not arrived yet (they’ll be getting more desk accessories for us later), but I have my little Burger King Darth Vader out, at least. And I have my postcards of ‘Star Wars,’ ‘Empire,’ and ‘Jedi’ posted. Well, if you don’t have space but for one thing in your desk…it should be SW, shouldn’t it? :)
I picked up ‘100 Hair-Raising Horror Stories’ the other day, so that my October is appropriately filled with fright. It’s got stories from a lot of classic authors like Twain and Washington Irving. I didn’t even know these authors had written anything considered horror, so I’m looking forward to it.
I saw a special last night on E! about the cult film ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.’ I have this film, but haven’t watched it in awhile. The original (not the sequels) was the template for modern horror movies: It was the first to include young teens as the victims, it was the first to use the country as a place of terror, and it was the first to use a crazed serial killer as the antagonist. The film pretends that the story was ‘real,’ even though it wasn’t, also a first (or at least, it was among the first). It was loosely based on real serial killer Ed Gein, who was also the inspiration (ugh) for ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ and ‘Psycho.’ But there’s never been a chainsaw death in Texas. I always laugh when I remember our friend Joan’s reaction to this movie. She yelled out our now-favorite outburst, “Run, you stupid bitch!” haha She and I were a little bit tipsy on Corona at the time. :)
One interesting development in this new call center is the placement of plasma TVs at each end of the room. And a DirecTV feed. Hmm. :)
Have a great day…
I’ll be exploring.

Congrats on your new work digs! I can't wait to see the photos. Oh, if I ever have a daughter, I hope she is just like Suzie! ;)
Thursday: Yep, Susie's a keeper!
Annette: Thanks for stopping by! I miss Calvin and Hobbes. Best comic ever.
