As a child, growing up in Madison, about an hour and a half West of where I currently reside, I remember snows. I remember wishing I could make tunnels in the snow like Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back. I remember taking long walks in the snow, and having a hard time stepping in certain places, it was so deep. I remember snow on the mountains....still one of my favorite sights in the world.
But then I moved to Richmond, also known as The Land of No Snow. haha I suppose they've HAD snow here, but not in the last 10 years that I've been here. I think I remember maybe two good snows in that time.
Yesterday, we were SUPPOSED to get snow, so I called off my plans to meet Terre and Marilyn for lunch. CALLED IT OFF. FOR WHAT???? For a few lousy flakes!!!
SON OF A BITCH!!!!!
We decided to go with caution, since we did not want to get caught out in snow. Well, that's wise. Southerners cannot drive in snow, after all; even with that pitiful showing yesterday, there were still wrecks. But I was disappointed.
A day of cleaning, getting groceries, reading, and watching movies, was not a bad day. But my belly could have used some good Italian food! haha
Ah, well. I don't live in the mountains anymore, sadly. THEY got four inches the other week. And New England...don't get me started. True, clearing off vehicles and driving in a mess is not fun. But there's something about snow that I always found to be magical.
Global Warming? I should say!
Here's hoping that wherever you are, the snow is real, and not a pain in your ass. haha
:)
