We've had some feedback at work regarding the terms "Merry Christmas" vs. "Happy Holidays."
Basically, a few Fundamentalists have written in with the complaint that we are "selling out to the liberals" (actual comment! Sheesh) by "forgetting the reason for the season."
WHAT???
My rebuttal?
1) You won't find a more devoted Liberal than me.
2) You won't find a more devoted Christian than me.
3) Christ was not born at this time of year, anyway.
4) Do you really think buying material things celebrates Jesus in any way? Jesus had no possesions in His lifetime, except the clothes on His back.
5) Christ taught love, respect, and Godliness. Shoving people out of the way for a toy displays the oppostite.
6) All major religions show a respect for Jesus, and follow the same God (The Father, to Christians).
7) I think a respect for all religions is healthy and shows that our minds are not closed.
8) If we are going to say "Merry Christmas," let's mean it.
To any who may have ventured by...sorry I have been absent here in cyberspace. Peak Season started, I'm still working on resolving those issues with Sleep Apnea that I have, my body has adjusted to the meds, and my mind is much clearer and calmer these days. But, I just haven't felt the desire to write. I think I just needed a break, after five years of writing practically every day, in some form or another.
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for!
In movie news, I recommend "Into the Wild," in theaters. Great film.
In music, I'm listening to Radiohead's "In Rainbows" and Fall Out Boy.
Happy Holidays, All!

Well hello there Miss Martypants...its good to see you. :) I am all about Happy Holidays for the very reason you are...because so few people get what Christmas is anymore, that only those who really mean it should say it! I am excited for Christmas and also get to celebrate Hanukkah with my best friend and her family...and they always say Merry Christmas to me!
Thursday!
I've missed you, dear. I'll always be around online..someplace.
Happiest Holidays to YOU!
I agree with you 110% Marty! We should be celebrating Christ all year long, not just for one day in December. What December 25th should really be about is making extra time for God, Christ and our loved ones. Toys and spending beyond our means have very, very little to do with any of that.
Hey VA!
Yeah, I get a little outdone with this time of year...considering we don't celebrate in a very Christian manner (some of us).
Nice to see you around!
:)
