Vacation being, well, vacation, I broke every resolution. Dang! I even broke resolutions from last year!
I had my first cup of coffee in over a year.
As I sat there, warm cup in hand
I felt my tired mind awaken
I felt my blood quicken, according to plan
Sleepy no more, I could face the day
The taste was bittersweet, laced with pure cane
Suddenly I felt warm all over
Hmm, I missed this, says I, staring out the windowpane
But hark! My insides rumble
Damn the torpedoes! This is an illness I can't feign
So I'll never drink you again, dear coffee
Because you have betrayed me and left me bereft
I'll have to chug some tea instead
At least it doesn't leave me light in the head!
haha
Ok, that was lame. I don't try very hard on rhyming poetry.
Probably because I have no love for it.
Free Verse, baby!
Things I say about coffee
1) Yowza!
2) Damn, that's some good sludge! *Work variety=cheap crap
3) My mind will not shut up. Help me. *Caffeine=bad for Marty's already overactive mind. ;(
4) Well, it's warm. No doubts there.
5) Low Metabolism? Drink some Joe. It'll keep you up for at least 12 hours. Minimum.
Off to see the parentals in the country this weekend.
They had snow!!!
Mom says she took pics, so I will share if they came out.
Have a great weekend!

MMMMM! You made me remember what the first cup of proper coffee in the US was like.
Over here, we're only really just beginning to realise the difference between the freeze dried instant stuff that we've been brought up on, and the proper ground coffee beans made into a proper cup of coffee, and heck it's been an education.
I'm an addict. I am thinking of patenting my T Shirt design which reads "I'd rather have IBS and High Blood Pressure than never drink coffee again" :)

I was fine, I swear it, until my gall bladder had to come out. Ever since then, IBS takes over. Damn!
We'll have to get you some of that good old American coffee sometime. :)
Mmmmm well I'm lucky, my local deli stocks Gloria Jean stuff and thanks to Frida I was introduced to the stuff and there's just no going back to instant freeze dried stuff after that.
/makes yet another cup of White Russian

The sound of the phonetics in the word coffee itself is music to my ears...as is your poem. ;)
Enjoy the weekend!
You be proud of me, Thursday!
Proud!
:)
