Bored at Work

"People have a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar."

Thich Nhat Hanh

I prefer everything that is familiar. In 2008, and going forward, I'd love to change that. I'll never be able to change it too much; my mind's need for order demands that things remain familiar enough. That's not to say I don't like spontaneous things. I love to travel and see new things, and meet new people. I'm especially refreshed by people who I don't understand, because then I have to learn something different. Being a life-long learner, I'll learn about anything (or anyone). I guess this is why I'm never bored; my mind has such a nice imagination, and such a sense of contentment, that I just take things in, and observe, if I don't do anything else. Being an eagle-eye has its advantages. You see and hear a lot.

A co-worker had a little toy cat on her desk, and I admired it. We all expected it to DO SOMETHING. But it didn't. It just sat there. When I was a kid, we had action figures and toys, but we made them do all of the action. No spring-action, no bells and whistles, no lights, just a plastic man that wasn't even articulated! My brothers made cardboard ships, since we didn't have the ships the men flew in. And me? I would go down into the basement, with just myself, (no toys at all!) and play out an entire movie (Think The Sopranos meets Rambo. That's what my movies were. Without the cursing. ha). Kids today...need a Wii. Well, a Wii is cool, I hear. I tried playing Playstation with Bean's nephew, but I could not figure out the controls! Too complicated! The only control I can work is the joystick for Ms. Pac Man. haha Irony? Bean's nephew thought I was a genius because I was really good at Pac Man. !!

We continue to be slightly bored here at work. Too much of the same thing! I'm not complaining tooo much though. No phones! Five years of that was enough.

I actually wrote a Top Ten! I've written over 400 of those over the last 5 years. This one may repeat some things I say a lot (I just think whistling "Dixie" is funny), but, alas, here it is.

Have a great weekend!

Great Things To Do While You're Bored at Work

1) Whistle "Dixie."
2) Call random people and say, "Do you have Prince Albert in a can? Well, you'd better let him out!!"
3) Make a list of "People Who Are Snakes" at your workplace.
4) Count paper clips.
5) Discuss religious theory with your neighbor. If he disagrees with you, tell him, "See you in Hell, then."
6) Drink coffee and yell, "Wheeeeeeeee" after every sip.
7) Call people by the wrong name, all the time. "Hey Tito! Hey Pepe! Eduardo!"
8) Think of new IM icons. I want Sleepy Man and Car Blowing Out of The Parking Lot, personally.
9) Make up quizzes that no one can answer. "But, "Booglaria" is NOT a real place! How can I know its capital???"
10) Write quotes on the whiteboard. "You don't know what you are." ??

:)
