There's only about 8 'Country' artists that I like and will buy albums of:
1) The Dixie Chicks
2) Carrie Underwood
3) Shania Twain
4) Faith Hill
5) Wynonna Judd
6) Leann Womack
7) Mary Chapin-Carpenter
8) Johnny Cash
So, when Bean got her mom and her sister tickets to see Wynonna in Charlottesville, VA, on 9/21/07, I thought, Well, that's nice for them. But when Bean said, I think you and I should get tickets too, I thought, Sure, why not?
Bean and I have decided, We want to start making memories! That's Bean's phrase. haha Memories, indeed. I expected a decent show. Wynonna has a great voice, after all. And I like some of her music. Plus, it's a night out for the girls.
Well! I'm glad I underestimated it. It was BY FAR, one of the BEST concerts I have seen, in many years. It helped that we were in the 5th row of the very small Paramount Theater, which was an old movie theater that has been restored. It helped that Wynonna encouraged photos, and even stopped to pose to allow fans in the audience to shoot away at will. It helped that the band were very tight, her voice was incredible as expected, and she played a lot of her hits we all liked, including some Judds songs.
And afterward, about 30 of us stood in the rain to meet her. And we did!! We got pictures too! With her! My favorite part? She sang one of my all-time favorite songs, Foreigner's 'I Want to Know What Love Is.' And, I recorded it, on my Canon digital camera, which has a video camera part in it also. I mention the brand because that camera is the best investment I have ever made in an electronics purchase, next to my Hitachi 65 inch TV! But anyway, I'm not putting it on YouTube; it's just for me to hear 1,000 times and enjoy. Thankfully, she has a version on CD also. I've never seen Foreigner, but I think she outdid them on their own song. The voice was what overwhelmed. GREAT!
Here's the setlist:
Heaven Help My Heart
Tell Me Why
Rock Bottom
She Is His Only Need
Only Love
I Will Be
What It Takes
I Wanna Know What Love Is
Mama He's Crazy
Grandpa
I Can Only Imagine
At Last
Encore: No One Else On Earth
That's from a fan at Wynonna.com. I didn't know all of the titles, but I think that's accurate. We wished it was longer-it was about an 80-90 minute show. But, we can't complain about what we did hear, because it was phenomenal!
Very enjoyable. Thanks, Wy, for the memory!!
Pics of us with her to follow. Although I looked pretty rough since I'd been in the rain. But still, it was a pic with Wy!

I am not a country music fan - at least, I THINK I am not - but love the Dixie Chicks - and I love Wynonna!!!! LOVE HER!!! I am green with envy! You lucky thing, you! I feel so bad about her marriage. Glad she is getting on with life! I have her double CD Greatest Hits on my ipod and listen to it all the time.
That is awesome that you got to meet her! :)
Hey Terre!
I don't really consider myself a Country Music fan either-but I guess I do like some of it (notice, mainly the girls!). Wynonna was VERY down-to-Earth and seems like a wonderful person. And very nice to the fans. Now, if only I could get that pic with Tori....ha
Thursday!!
Nice to see you're still around..It was neat to meet her. She was very nice!
