Palm Sunday

I'm a day late in commenting, but I really enjoyed Palm Sunday yesterday. It was also Communion, which is my favorite of all ceremonies. I always feel truly cleansed and forgiven at Communion.

Palm Sunday, as many may know, celebrates the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem. The tradition goes, Kings and Warriors rode in on a horse, and had red carpets placed down for them to ride on. Jesus, being the greatest King there ever will be, rode in on people's coats, and on a donkey. And the people waved palm branches as a part of the praise.

When I was a child, our minister had us all take a palm branch, sing 'Tell Me the Stories of Jesus' and walk along a designated path outside of the church. The children led the group, which meant me and some others. I'll never forget it; it was powerful and emotional.

At work this week, we are bombarded by the pure venom of people (All liberals like myself, I'm sure, God Bless 'em) who will pursue boycotts, will never shop with us again, and who actually wish we'd all 'rot in hell.' People actually wrote this. I have to respond with a legal template, of course, and can't comment about the layoffs here. I'm no fan of Corporate America, and have been a victim of layoffs myself. But I learned before, that Corporate America isn't going anywhere. And at least here, where I am, in Customer Support, I feel I can HELP people. That's why I stay. Plus, it gives me time to write novels. Plus, it's relatively stress-free. I can't handle stress. The only stress, like all of life for me, is the stress I put on myself, because my work ethic is so obsessive and if I cannot help, I get tense.

5,000 emails full of anger is enough to get anyone tense. There's always another job out there, for anyone. As harsh as Corporate America seems, it's better than a Dictatorship. And honestly; I'm a peaon like those who got laid off. So stop yelling to ME about it.

Worry is a terrible thing. I've been worrying about the impact this will truly have on the company, and indeed, on my life. But Communion and the reminder of Palm Sunday really helped me get my head back on track.

Jesus said in Matthew:

25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

26 "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

28 And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.

29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 "So do not worry, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?'

32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Good Friday is my favorite day of the year. It's a day when I speak with God more than any other time. And I Thank Him. What else can I do? His life and His sacrifice are unequalled. And, wow, I get to spend another life with some of these same people who told me to 'Rot in Hell.' I'm sure some of them are Christians. Sadly, that doesn't mean what Christ intended today. Sad.

Here's hoping you have a great day.
