Bunnies, Chicks, and Eggs, Oh My!

I'm a huge fan of Easter bunnies. The plush ones, which I used to get every year at Easter. I'm not sure if they're still in vogue, but I am still a collector. Clerks probably look at me like, "Oh, how cute. She's buying that for her child." Ha! I'm buying it for myself! haha Well, I still collect stuffed animals, you know. It's another of those throwbacks to childhood that I cannot let go of. It just makes me smile to see little furry ones around. And why shouldn't I do things that make me smile?

I think it very ironic that we celebrate Easter by displaying bunnies, chicks, and eggs. These were all symbols of rebirth and new life in pagan cultures, and, us being who we are, we stole the idea from them. My mom gets angry about it and feels it's wrong to use these things instead of Jesus at Easter. Well, truth is, a man nailed to a cross isn't exactly kid-friendly. I have seen crosses in white and regular chocolate; good for those makers.

But mostly, for kids, unless they're in church, Easter is all about the bunnies, baskets of candy, and small gifts. Reese Eggs are the BEST! White Chocolate especially. I'll never forget getting my bunnies every year. I loved it. And my favorite gift of all was a 6 inch Wonder Woman doll. We have the photo of me when I got it. The look of wonder can't be matched.

As I got older, Easter took on the more somber meaning. Somber as in, God had to die for us to be saved. That's sad, but that's how it had to happen. I just wish we'd had the sense to save ourselves, so that God didn't have to make such a sacrifice. But the Good News is, of course, I get to spend eternity (whoo, that's a long time!) with you beautiful people.

Hmm. That'll be interesting. I hope I'm given the chance to read every book ever written, and see every film ever made. After that, I'm not sure what my goals would be. Of course, these Earthly things most likely will not exist, and that'll be odd. I'm assuming we won't miss them, as we'll have things we can't yet understand to employ our time. Whatever we have, I'm so Thankful that we have it.

It's 75-80 degrees here. Flowers are blooming, life is good.

Have a great day!
