Lost

You have to admit; I haven't chatted about 'Lost' for a loooong time. Mainly because it's quite lost my interest, mostly, but I still watch out of loyalty (and cause there really isn't anything else on).

When this show debuted, I loved, loved, LOVED the mystery, suspense, and paranormal flavorings it had. We had mysterious 'things' in the jungle, mysterious 'people' on the island, and physical anomalies. As we learned about the characters, I found that I liked some, and didn't like some, but all were interesting. I always felt that the crash survivors were in real danger, and we had a lot to learn about them.

But the writers created too much mystery (yes, it's possible), and raised too many questions that went unanswered. Now, I understand the desire to keep people coming back. But they created so many questions, that I forgot what they all were. They're answering them all now, in an effort to appease fans and keep viewers, I think. And I'm glad they're answering things. I just wish my ability to care was still there.

What they should have done (and, indeed, what shows before have done) is create a mystery, at the end of every episode, and answer it in the next episode. My two favorite shows, 'The X Files' and 'Alias' get criticized pretty hard for creating these elaborate mythologies and then 1) Confusing the viewers to the point that they don't care 2) Dragging it out too long, so that none of it makes sense. I don't quite agree with those critics, because I actually followed X Files and Alias, but Lost has truly lost me at this point. I have a good memory, but damn, too many questions!

So that's my criticism of this once-great show. Not that they created a mythology-I love mythologies-but that they waited so long to answer anything, and along the way they got convoluted with these 'fake' commericals and web pages and all of this uber-geeky stuff that regular viewers couldn't give a rat's ass about.

But on the positive? Juliet appears to be an unwilling traitor. And Jack is always hot, hot, hot! As is Sawyer. haha I don't really like the "Us against Them" plot either, but I guess there had to be a human threat. Well, there didn't have to be a human threat. I'm a big fan of monsters and boogeymen, personally. How about more of that black smoke??

But, as I am a loyal type, I'll see it out to the end. Which reminds me: I miss 'Alias.' What a great show!

Tonight: 'Grey's Anatomy.' Hooray! If you haven't seen this show, do yourself a favor and catch up with the DVDs this summer. You're missing the best show on TV! It is mostly a show for women, I'll admit. But it's got Heigl! Doesn't every guy love an attractive blonde? ;)

Speaking of which, Thanks to the guy who described me as "stunningly hot." I've never been called such in my life, and while I can't agree, I appreciate compliments all the same. I think the only "hot" picture I ever took was Prom. I'll have to post that. Little black dress and all.

Have a great day, All.

I checked out of watching "Lost" part way through the third series. I think they started to see how much they could take the proverbial pee with it. "Hey let's make a giant Simpsons foot statue, see if the viewers will buy that!"

It just got silly, though everyone and anyone I talk to about it still seems as addicted as ever. I'll probably do the box set of Series 3 when it hits.
