I used to be one of those who would buy all of the magazines, see all of the movies, and await Oscar night like it was the most important night of the year. In fact, it's still The Dream for Bean and I to win an Oscar, and get up there and make a speech. We've already said, we'd thank three people: God, Mom, and Madonna. haha Just Kidding on the last one. Although Bean's not. haha Of course, in order to GET our Oscar, we have to actually WRITE something, get it to someone who will make it into a film, and have it be good enough that it makes it. I tell Bean, "You're the one who wants to write dramas. So write them!!"
I don't think my writing, mostly sci-fi, fantasy, or ghost stories, is the stuff Oscar loves. I do have a drama in me, rest assured. But who knows when I'll get around to writing that one, if ever. Too much other fun stuff I have to do first! Like finish my third novel.
So, my love of movie stars has diminished over the years, mainly because there's no one who blows me away, and no one whose personality is anything I'd care anything about. Or, I've matured. ha HA!
Plus, ever since I bought Mr. Huge Ass TV, we never go out to the movies anymore; why bother when I can watch them in my comfy recliner, with Leia on my lap, and Bean and I can yak to our heart's content if we wish? Plus, the fridge is close by. ;)
So I can't say that I was 'rooting' for anyone, but was glad for Jennifer Hudson (best speech of the night; I love people who thank God), Forest Whitaker (again, very humble and sweet), and Helen Mirren (typical Brit; no emotions at all! haha JK Brits.)
But mostly, my love affair with Oscar is gone because, let's face it, that was the dullest ceremony ever. I love Ellen Degeneres, and she was great, but didn't get enough screen time. The Golden Globes are a much better show; plus, TV is awesome, and is actually BETTER than films lately (hooray, Lost and Grey's!).
But, deep down....Bean and I still need our Oscar Moment. So we can act like fools, Thank God, our Moms, Tori, Madonna, and anybody who ever prompted me to write. Who doesn't want to give an acceptance speech to the world? Who would you thank?
Have a great day!

I thought the Oscars were SO LONG!!! Of course, Marilyn and I watched all the red carpet stuff, too - so that was 6 hours of sitting on our butts! Far too much time devoted to this event! I still enjoyed it, for the most part, however.
I still haven't drummed up the courage to change my blog! Just call me "chicken"!
;)
Hey Terre!
I guess I like The Globes better; they seem much more fun. Too many montages at The Oscars.
I promise I'll help you if you make the change! I was hesitant too-it took me many months to try it. But you see that my site is not changed all that much, I did not lose anything, and if anything, my site looks better, I think. Finally got my books on there!
Emotionless Brits? Cah!!
Helen Mirren was ace (as ever) - that was the only bit I saw - Here the Oscars don't count unless we win one because we're meanies like that.
Who would I thank in my acceptance speech? I'd thank Montezuma's for the coffee, Harrison's Books for the inspiration, Nan for the sense of humour and the little guy who always sits next to me on the bus and eats 12 cheese and onion rolls for reminding me why I don't have to take the bus any more.

I love Helen Mirren and thought she was an even better Elizabeth on the PBS series. ;) Or was that HBO? Oy I am so confused! Anyway, I am with Peej: my first thank you for anything would be to the almighty coffee!
You coffee drinkers are a bit NUTS.
haha
Hazelnuts.
;)
But, I love you anyway. ;)
I'd like to thank the other nominees for sucking and thus allowing me to win. I'd like to thank God for creating me, as I am truly wonderful. Way to go. I'd also like to thank myself for constantly inspiring me to strive for perfection--not that I had very far to go.
David: That's the best speech I've ever heard!
:)
