Hi All,
Well, we knew it would happen someday. We knew Madonna would turn 48.
Some commentary on Madonna:
1) She never puts drugs in her body because she's more than a little obsessed with her health. Ah, that we all were so inclined.
2) She's a perfectionist, something I have to love. Was that sentence good enough? ha
3) She's said about a hundred times that she's here to push people's buttons, and people sure let her. People never cease to amaze.
4) The first concert she attended was David Bowie. Explains a lot. :)
5) She's in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Most Successful Female Solo Artist. Puts a glint in the eye.
6) She does not have a star on the Walk of Fame. Blasphemy!
7) The 'Sex' book sold 150,000 copies in a single day, a record. Can I return mine?
8) She's won 5 Grammys. And Tori has won NONE. Explain this?
9) She once said, "I think my biggest flaw is my insecurity. I'm terribly insecure. I'm plagued with insecurities-twenty-four/seven." I think she lies.
10) She's tied with Elvis for the most Top Ten singles-36. Thank you, thank you very much.
In other news, it's the day Elvis died, I believe.
Madonna, Elvis. It must be unreal to be THAT huge in this world.
I think I'd never survive such.
Memories! Gotta love them.
1) Bought 'Like A Prayer' the day it came out at The Record Den on tape. The Patchouli smell is still there.
2) Begged to be able to dye the hair blonde, oh, about a thousand times. Was denied always. Now that I'm able, have decided: Blondes Just Look Better. haha JK
3) Thought I was 'hot as hell' wearing my little cut-off Washington DC t-shirt in a sad effort to emulate those stomach-exposing things Madonna wore.
4) Stopped and stared at Bean's locker which was flooded with Madonna photos. Bean and I did not know each other at the time, so she and her boyfriend just stared back at me like I was a nut. It was MADONNA I was looking at! Or maybe not. ;)
5) I used to have a vow that 'Like A Prayer,' the album, had to be the first thing played in new settings. It was the first thing I played at college.
6) My cross and crucifix collection of jewelry owes its existence entirely to Madonna's influence.
7) I still have all of those pins of Madonna we all used to wear on our acid-washed denim jackets. Come to think of it, I still have the jacket itself. Wow! 80's!
8) In college, I was once told by a friend who was a leader in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, a group I was very active in, "I'm so disappointed," when she saw my Madonna poster on the wall. It was then that I decided, maybe 'Christian' groups aren't all they're cracked up to be.
9) I took my Wal Mart smock off and pretended I wasn't an employee so I could hear 'Frozen' as it debuted on the radio in the store.
10) Bean says she's not sure how she'd act if she met Madonna; I say, I'd grab her and have to be pulled off. I couldn't let go. Hmm. I can't let go? Nice pun! And true. I can't let go of things I love. Good thing I'm not a parent!
Have a great day, and remember:
Madonna Rules! :)

My Marty, you are quite possibly the most loyal fan in existance. I'm sure Tori and Madonna would both be flattered.I love that you played Like a Prayer first in new settings. I love the little traditions that we make for ourselves.
Marty, haha--acid wash jeans...what memories. How about neon accessories and giant hair bows?? (I had 'em, we all had 'em...). Also, the ubiquitous 'boy toy' belt?? =-)
In Madonna We Trust!
WIP:
Yeah, my fandom is pretty..devout. ;) Bean's a bigger Madonna fan than me, believe it or not. My goal in life is to work for either one of them. ;)
Ryane: Thanks for stopping by! Neon! Thanks for the reminder. In Madonna We Trust, indeed. :)
Yeah, I was a scary Madonna fan. My first concert was 1985, I believe. I even wore a big lace headband/bow to my senior prom (of course, placed just slightly off center on my head). I never did go for the lace anklet socks with my pumps, but they would have made for great pictures! :)
1985!~ As in The Virgin Tour??!!! If so, I am eternally jealous!
Ah, to have those pictures of the Madonna wannabees.....
:)
Madonna's "Like a Virgin" album cover kicked my puberty into overdrive. I'd write and tell her that, but I think it would just get me a restraining order.
