Thank You For Five Incredible Years, ALIAS

Hi All,
'Alias' is the only show that I've watched from the very opening credits of the pilot episode until the very end credits of the finale, not missing a single episode in between. There have been other shows that I've seen in their entirety, but those were all after the fact. This is the only one I've stayed loyal to throughout. I would say the same for 'Lost' but unfortunately I did miss an episode in season one and still have never seen it (I'm glad, cause it's the one where Boone dies. I loved Boone.) I remember the Fall Lineup being announced by ABC that year, and my best friend Bean told me right away: "We should watch this new show called 'Alias.' That show looks like it's going to be GOOD."
I knew from the pilot episode that:
1) I loved Sydney Bristow. In an inspiring line of Women Who Kick Ass But Are Still Human, Sydney is one of my very favorites.
2) Even more overwhelming than the character of Sydney, who was very well-developed, was the acting talent that is Jennifer Garner. I will follow this actress to the moon. She has more talent in a single strand of her hair than about 98% of the actresses currently working in Hollywood.
3) The plots themselves, while sometimes becoming convoluted, usually were smart, funny at times, dramatic, and always interesting.
4) They created a Mythology equal to The X Files. And I love them for it.
5) The supporting players were awesome too: Techie Geek Marshall, Loyal CIA Partner Dixon, Spy Dad Jack, Love of Her Life Vaughn, Best Friend Will, Best Friend Francie, Evil Nemesis Ana, Sark, and Ultimate Bad Guy Sloane. And let's not forget Mom, the Traitor that still loved her daughter, but not more than she loved power and immortality.

I was very happy with the Series Finale.
It was bittersweet, to be sure. Syd is left without any family at all: Dad dies (which broke my heart, and yes, I cried like a fool), Mom dies (I knew she would, but still, you had to hold out hope for Syd, who still loved her mother despite it all), her sister is dead, her best friend is dead, and her fiance was dead. Syd lost so many people she cared about. But she lived in the end, becuase she is strong and talented. And she got the happy ending she deserved: Vaughn, 2 kids, and finally some peace in her life. I am still broken up about Jack (Syd's dad) dying, but at least he did it heroically. At least they finally stopped Sloane.

And was I the only nerd that saw a connection between Syd and Luke Skywalker? hha
Luke was told he had to confront his father so that Good could prevail and he could become a Jedi.
Syd is told she must confront her mother so that Good can prevail and she can save the world.
And in the end, both of their parents had Good in them, but The Dark Side had consumed them.

I will truly miss this show. It was incredible, and should go down as the best spy thriller ever on TV.

RIP, ALIAS!

Thoughts on the Finale
1) Die Sloane, Die!!
2) Can somebody give Syd a hug? Christ, the things this girl has gone through!
3) Irina! I know there is good in you!
4) Loved the flashbacks. Made me want to cry knowing it's all over.
5) And Isabelle? Might be the next Syd? God help us.

Have a great day!

First of all, I love your blog! I've been going through it and your observations are great! My favorite part of the season finale was the flashbacks... I loved seeing "good" Francie again and I wish they would have been able to fit Will in somehow. I heard that the actor was busy doing something else, but that may have been a rumor. If they do an Alias movie, I hope they are able to bring Will back.
Oh, and keep up the good work! I'm going to come back and keep on reading.

Thanks, David! I write about things that interest me-which is usually a wide spectrum of entertainment-related stuff.
The flashbacks were awesome! I agree that seeing Will would have been nice, too. I guess we got him a few episodes before. According to JJ Abrams, there won't be an Alias movie. But, he could always change his mind. ;)

Dang, got the finale DV'd, but can't get to it. Too dang busy. But now I have to squeeze Lost before it. Hope they do it justice.

I hope I did not blow the whole finale for you since I clearly discussed spoilers. It was very good. I think you'll enjoy.
