Hi All,
After 'Lost' last night, we watched various songs from The Dixie Chicks' concert DVD from the Top of the World Tour. I've missed those girls! They have a new CD due in May; should be great. I first got into The Chicks when I saw them at Lilith Fair many years ago. That was a great lineup: Sarah MacLachlan, The Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow, and The Pretenders. My friend Joan and I went and Joan, true friend that she is, stood in the rain to get Bean a shirt that read, 'Chicks Rule.' Me, I took shelter. I love The Bean, but I ain't about to stand in pouring rain for anyone! haha They were really impressive live; Martie (who really needs to learn proper spelling of her name) and Emily are insanely talented women. I was blown away. Martie was actually the one with the most talent, from what I saw. But they both have such an incredible command of their instruments, it's awe-inspiring.
So I've been a fan ever since. The whole 'President Bush comment' debacle is, quite frankly, the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Who cares what one singer said about the President? People say much worse about him on a daily basis, and they aren't singled out. I guess it was the fact that they were overseas, and she offended the Right Wing, Fundamentalist, Ignorant South that listens to Country music. Thankfully I'm in the Southerners With Common Sense Club, and I applaud her right to free speech. And besides, I think we're all ashamed that Bush is from Texas. We're ashamed he's even from the United States.
In other news, we were sorry to see ol' Bucky go. Bean liked his 'raspy' voice. Eventually, though, they'll all be gone...and Chris will be left standing. If America has any sense. There's a statement! I sometimes think Dar has the right idea: England sure does look promising.
I'm off on vacation for the next several weeks, off to Connecticut, and home to see the parents, and just generally planning on being a slacker. Not sure if I'll post during this time as I don't usually turn the computer on when I'm at home unless it's to write on the novels, but we'll see I guess.
