The Constant Gardener

Hi All,
That actually would be a good title for my mom. She loves the gardening...and laments that I inherited very little of her interest in the subject. I will admit, though, that since we've been renting the house, I do take more interest in what the outdoors look like. I'm not sure the outdoors likes me, but I still try to get in the mix. I love to walk the track outside, as opposed to the treadmill. But when I mowed last week, for example, the wild onion grass caused my lungs to hurt for a week after. And I won't even mention the sneezing. You'd think I was dying out there when I mow: "Hack, hack, sneeze, sneeze." Jas will be proud to know I have overcome my fear of Getting My Hands Dirty. I never like for any part of me to be dirty, for any length of time, being a slight germophobe. But I can deal. Besides, it feels so good to take that shower after, it's worth all of the crud getting on you.
My parents are coming down this weekend to help me plant some flowers and generally get the yard looking nice. She called last night to ask what types of flowers I wanted. I said, "I don't know any of the names, but I like dark purple, bright red, and bright white." I like things that hang and grow over the pots too, like vines and petunias. Basically, give me a burst of color when I walk out the door, and I'm happy. After that, I'm off again all next week. No major plans this time; just taking care of things around the house and visiting the parentals should be enough. I'll need to get that library card ready since summer approaches and TV will soon be gone. I'll miss it.
Next week on AI: Top 10 Billboard and songs from the years they were born. Most of these kids were born in the 80's...so it should be a good week. We hope. I don't know about Billboard's Top Ten, though, as there aren't many good songs in there. But hopefully they'll entertain. Goodbye to Kellie....I figured she was a goner. Taylor and Paris are next. Chris, Katherine, and Elliott should be the Top Three...but it's up to the voters, I suppose.

Gardening Tips
1) Try not to yell, "Ack!" so much when you mow
2) The hose is not a toy
3) Death to Mosquitos is our mantra
4) Avoid LSD when staring at multi-colored flowers
5) Spades are for digging with, not for yelling, 'Gin!'

Have a great day/weekend!
