Here's what EW had to say. My comments added, of course!
25: THE INCREDIBLES –This is a great animated film, like all Pixar films are. And the action was fierce. Sadly, I don't yet own this one. Note to self: Use those CC gift cards soon. For movies!
24. LETHAL WEAPON –I would rank this higher, as an action film. I may have liked part 2 better (Mel Gibson love scene! Awesome!), but this film was everything an action film should be: smart, good plot, slighty off-kilter Good Guy, and nicely sinister Bad Guy.
23: DRUNKEN MASTER II –Have not seen it. Can't really comment.
22. PREDATOR –I would substitute 'Commando' here, or 'Rambo: First Blood' (which isn't even on this list!). 'Predator' seemed like a rip-off of 'Aliens' to me, sort of. Ironic that they made 'Aliens Vs. Predator.' Sheesh!
21. SPIDER-MAN 2 –The best of the Spidey films. And one of the best super hero films made. Where is 'Superman' on this list???
20. KILL BILL – Vol 1 –Can't argue, from an 'action-movie' standpoint. It was non-stop in places. A bit overly so, for me. But, this was Tarantino. All the way.
19. GOLDFINGER –Haven't seen. I've seen the more recent Bonds, and they certainly pack the punch for action.
18. THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD -I'm sure my dad would agree. He loved the Robin Hood story. I liked the Kevin Costner version best. (Do not mean to blaspheme, Errol Flynn fans!)
17. THE BOURNE SUPREMACY – Very good film; smart and with great action sequences.
16. CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON – One of my favorite films, ever. Even beyond the pure action moments (which were beautifully choreographed), the story was epic.
15. ENTER THE DRAGON – Haven't seen. I prefer the 'Crouching Tiger' type movies if I want to see martial arts.
14. ROBOCOP – I liked this movie. It's been years, so I can't remember so much of it. Interesting idea; the half-man, half-machine idea.
13. THE WILD BUNCH – Have not seen. I haven't seen much that was made before 1977. haha ;)
12. THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK – I never think of this as an 'action' film. EW included it due to the great Hoth battle scene (my favorite battle scene ever), and the action at Cloud City, but it's still sci-fi/fantasy to me. I'd say 'Star Wars' had more action. Or even 'Jedi.'
11. SPEED – Great! Tense, fast, and with great characters. Unique idea for a movie.
10. TERMINATOR 2 – Also one of my favorite films of all time. Incredible! And probably with my favorite action sequences ever put on film. Cameron is a master of action.
9. HARD-BOILED – Have not seen.
8. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN – I don't consider this 'action' at all. I don't view any war film as 'action.' I guess because action films are all about fake, fantasy killings and destruction, and war films are about real killing and destruction. Great film, though.
7. GLADIATOR – Another absolute fave. Beautiful cinematography, incredible acting (all the way around), and plenty of Crowe kicking ass. Russell! *sigh*
6. SEVEN SAMURAI – It's blasphemy to true film fans, I know, but I have never seen this, or any Kurosawa film. I know, I know. 'Star Wars' was heavily influenced and to some people, is a remake of this film. If that's true, I'll stick with the remake.
5. THE MATRIX – Clearly one of the greatest films ever! This is a movie, that, if I pass it on the channels, I have to stop and watch, no matter where it is in the movie. I'm very visual, and this was pure Heaven to watch. Nice mythic plot, too. And so much action, I actually get tired watching it.
4. THE ROAD WARRIOR – Oddly, I haven't seen it. I saw the sequel, 'Thunderdome,' and remember liking it, but I guess I was never a HUGE fan. I might need to give it a watch.
3. RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK – Damn right! I think this might be #1, to me, as far as 'greatest action films' goes. Harrison Ford! Huge boulders! Constantly on the go! Wow. What a landmark.
2. ALIENS – We know I think this is a perfect, awesome, unbelievable film. And yes, tons of action, and my female hero. But again, for me, it's more sci-fi. I'll concede that it belongs on the list though.
1. DIE HARD – I think this film, and 'Raiders,' might both be the quintessential action films. This film set the template for so many that followed, and has stood the test of time.
Interesting list. They also had a Top 25 Sci-fi films/TV shows list recently that I meant to also comment on. Hmm..soon.
Have a good day, All.

Not sure if I agree with the order of the EW list, but the movies mentioned are all great. I must admit that I prefer Temple of Doom to Raiders! :)
What Thurs said - mainly for the dinner scene
"Chilled monkey brains!"

Thursday & Peej:
Really???? Wow! Most nerds, geeks, and Indiana Jones-loving boys I know cite 'Doom' as their least favorite. But again, these same people cite 'Jedi' as lame. More on that on today's post. I love all three films, for different reasons, but with Raiders, again, like with SW, I was very young when I saw it (go, parents!) and it made a lasting impression. The melting faces at the end was awesome! A bit horror, if you think about it. It's weird that my parents and I watched 'Doom' recently (literally about 2 weeks ago), because Dad suggested it out of the blue. And indeed, what incredible action! The guy in the pit of fire was worse to me than the monkey brains. But that scene, and that movie, you may realize, is responsible for the invention of the PG-13 rating. Props, Lucas and Speilberg!
