Cars
I love Pixar. I was watching the A&E special 'Empire of Dreams' the other night, which is about Star Wars and the history of the films, and they mentioned that George Lucas and his ILM staff created a computer they called 'The Pixar Computer' that developed and gradually became Pixar Studios. But, I loved Pixar before I knew that!! I should have known Lucas and ILM were somehow involved, though; everything he touches rocks, pretty much. (We'll forget 'Howard the Duck.')
But Pixar! They've blown me away from the very first frame in 'Toy Story' in 1995. 'Toy Story 2,' 'Monsters, Inc.,' 'Finding Nemo,' 'The Incredibles'.....do these people ever mess up?? The answer to that, my friends, is a definitive NO.
I couldn't wait to see 'Cars,' based on the recommendation of Mr. Scott, and the general feeling that all that Pixar does kicks ass. Well? It does. Bean hates 'cartoons' as a movie and refuses to watch any of them. I tell her she's nuts. ;) I love them ALL, pretty much. I was a little disappointed in 'Monster House,' which I had high hopes for. Why was I disappointed? Well, it wasn't made by Pixar. I should have known. It was cute; don't get me wrong. But not where I would have gone with that premise. I mean, haunted houses are my favorite things in the world, so I doubt anyone would please me. Except maybe the Pixar folks. ;)
'Cars' was so good, I cried like a baby at the end. If you see it, you'll understand why. The main character, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is a hotshot race car who has no friends, and is all ambition and drive. No pun intended. ha So he gets stuck in a mostly-deserted town in the country, and he gains true friends, and he learns humility. It was the humility that killed me at the end. Such a sweet story, and soooooo well done. If you want 116 minutes of Happy, watch this movie.
Grade? A+, off the scales.
Did I do that list of 'Top Pixar films?'
I didn't.
Well, here it is.
1) Toy Story. Being one who believed her toys were alive as a child (I had a great imagination; still do, I think), I related to and loved this movie.
2) Toy Story 2. Being an adult collector of toys, I related to this one as well. But don't misunderstand me: I don't keep anything in the package! I have to open, handle, and display. I said display! Not 'play with.' :) (But if Thursday comes over, we'll play. Watch us. ha)
3) Monsters, Inc. Pixar seems to know exactly how to locate that inner child in us and celebrate it. God Bless Them.
4) Finding Nemo. Being one who loves underwater anything...I loved this touching family tale.
5) Cars. See above. Did I mention? The animation of the cars' faces was out of this world.
Can't wait for 'Ratatouille' and 'Toy Story 3.'
Have a great day, All.

My favorite Pixar is Finding Nemo. :) I love the sharks...too cute! Thanks for the review, dahling. I got Jack a little Lightning a few months ago!
Thursday!
'Nemo' is a great one.
Ellen DeGeneres had me in stitches with those whale mating calls!
Finding Nemo is my favorite too...not trying to be a copycat. But I loves me some Ellen. She is sooo gifted. But all the Pixar films are great. And I really dug the Sheryl Crow song that they used in Cars. Makes me want to drive 90 miles on the highway.
I'd have never known that was Sheryl Crow if you hadn't told me.
;)
I thought you drove 90 mph on the highway anyway? hahah JK
