Lost

Hi All,
When 'The X Files' left, I thought I'd never be consoled. 'Alias' was a nice substitute but as of late has really gone downhill. But once I started watching 'Lost...'....redemption at last! Granted, nothing equal 'Files..'...but I have to say 'Lost' is highly entertaining. More miracles on the island last night. I like the idea that things sometimes happen that aren't supposed to, yet they happen anyway. Somebody asked me to explain the show in a few sentences. Good Lord! It cannot be done. But putting a nice microcosm of people on a supernatural island was a good idea. I think if I did a story about someone on an island, it would be all about mental awakening and allegory. And ghosts. I love ghosts.
I'm tempted to start doing some of those writing prompts I see on Writer's Digest.com. Those were fun in Creative Writing class, no? I tried so hard to pull some creativity out of my students sometimes. Can you believe I had Seniors in there who just refused to do any work? I had one guy who wouldn't even try. I was an easy teacher, too! I'd get exasperated and say, "Just make up anything! Anything at all!" But it did no good. I don't understand people who don't even TRY. Granted, thinking up these things is not so easy for some of us, I understand. Like the one girl, who, when given the prompt, "The alarm went off loudly" wrote "And I went to class."
Well, at least she TRIED! Who knows where my head would take me with some of these. Could be an interesting side-project.
We're kind of on pins and needles here because March is Layoff Month at CC. Things are up in the air regarding the team I am on. I'm sure something will present itself should any layoffs happen. I remember years ago when I was in high school and I told my eye doctor I wanted to be a writer (he was making small talk, and asked me what I wanted to do with my life), and he said, "I hope you're prepared to be poor." I've never forgotten his quote. And he was right! But, at least I get to do something I love. We should all get to be so lucky.

Things I do when I'm lost
1) Yell, "S.O.S!!!!"
2) Start telling God "I have no patience for this."
3) Keep looking for a big X
4) Ask people for help, while mentally writing the wrong directions in my head
5) Say, "Son of a %$#*^#" a lot

Have a great day!

If you were lost, don't forget to establish a democracy with a Conch shell.

Good point!
I'd have to be sure to establish some good ground rules, too.
Like, "No shirts for the hot guys."
