Obscured, Evergreen

Some new poetry I wrote recently:

Obscured

He was obscured by snow
Just a tiny black dot in the middle
No one could see him
But he could see them all
He knew what they thought
He heard the whispers
He didn’t want to be in the dark anymore
Falling down thick, it hurt as it hit his face
His hands were just about numb
His heart felt tired
By it all
He looked up just in time
To see her there, waiting

Evergreen

They say the Evergreen never dies
Through rain, ice, or snow
It survives
So they brought him inside
They set him by the fire
So that he could feel the warmth
He had been cold for so long
He deserved better
They even decorated him
Gave him a robe of lights
And an angel at the top to protect him
When it was all over they returned him to the earth
From whence he came
His job here was done
As he turned to dust, he smiled.
