I had a feeling that a well-done Jane Austen story would make up for my dismay at the mess that was 'Beowulf.' (See review from the day before)
In this charming movie, Anne Hathaway stars as Jane Austen, whose real life love affair provides some inspiration for her characters' love affairs. I wasn't really remembering how Jane's real life turned out, and neither was Bean. So we watched this whole movie, which was beautifully written, and we privately swooned at the prospect of Jane and the poor Irish guy she's in love with somehow making it work.
I don't want to ruin the end, but life did not quite turn out like a novel. Hmm. Figure that! haha
Bean's best quote, about this movie, was this one, which really could be put on my gravestone someday:
"She wrote those books, which was great, but that doesn't keep you warm at night."
haha
So, there you have it. Remember that, writers! Books are great, but they don't keep you warm at night. ha ;)
This was a very enjoyable film! I recommend it, for literary types.
Happy Monday...
