Timelines Are Fun!

(This is not an entirely serious timeline. Well, the times are accurate. The commentary is for fun.)

August 27, 1973- Marty is born. Nurses give kid CPR twice, as she only weighed four pounds and could not breathe on her own. Kid thanks Fate for letting her survive, and laughs at the ‘breathing on her own’ irony, since she uses that metaphor all the time.

Sometime in 1977- Marty sees ‘Star Wars.’ Minds are blown. Lifelong fandom follows, as well as Nerdy Commentary Galore.

April 3, 1983- Marty is baptized. Epiphany follows: God is #1. Also, crosses are cool.

July 3, 1985- Marty decides Madonna is indeed “Awesome” as she watches Live Aid. Eight-year obsessive fandom follows.

August 2, 1986- Marty sees ‘Aliens.’ Thirteen-year obsessive fandom with Sig follows.

June 13, 1991- Marty graduates from high school. Fellow classmates list Marty as “The Person Most Likely to Work for Madonna.”

August 18, 1991- Marty steps onto Her Favorite Place On Earth, the campus of Mary Washington College, as a Freshman. The four best years of her life will follow. She writes her first real poetry there, now considered ‘Thoreau Rip-offs’ and ‘Dickinson is Spinning in Her Grave’ poems.

September 16, 1992- Marty meets Tori Amos. Words cannot describe what follows. ;)

May 6, 1995- Marty graduates from college with a BA in English. It’s a beautiful day, and there’s pizza after for the family and friends. Pizza! It was all worth it for ‘za.

June 1997- Marty completes Teacher Certification at James Madison University. During this tenure, she worked at Massanutten Resort. She folded towels all day. There’s something to be said for great skills.

August, 1999- Marty embarks on her first teaching job. She quickly decides, “I will die young if I stay in this profession. I want to LIVE, damn it!”

October 2, 2000- Marty takes a job with electronics giant Circuit City Stores, Inc, in the Corporate Office. Here she remains because, “I’m too lazy to look for better.”

March 23, 2003- Marty begins online dialogues via message boards, online groups, and web pages with a crapload of people. She decides, “Hmm. Writing rocks!” Having found her voice, she thinks she should finally write those novels inside of her. She learns to be a snooty author-type.

August 27, 2003- Marty and Bean see Tori Amos in concert two days in a row. They both decide: This woman is a Goddess. And this was the best birthday ever.

June, 2005- Marty self-publishes The Sensation Inside, a true labor of love. Later that same year, she publishes Fearscape, a story that’s been in her head since high school. “La de frickin’ da!” People say.

Current- Marty speaks of herself in the third person, raising the eyebrows of shrinks across the land. Help her, please!

So what did we learn?
????

:)

Have a great day.
