Maybe Next I'll Give Judas a Try

Hi All,
I'm sure you've heard the news about The Book of Judas. I don't know if it's just that Easter's around the corner, or what, but I seem to come across the religious news lately. Basically, in case you haven't heard, they found The Book of Judas in Egypt, and there's a big deal being made over it. Newscasters keep saying that it 'changes the way Christians feel about this man who's been considered a traitor for 2,000 years.' The 'new discovery' is, Jesus knew Judas was going to betray him, knew it was Fated to be. It wasn't a betrayal so much as a part of the Plan. I hate to point out the obvious, here, but in Matthew 21-25, Jesus and Judas have a conversation in which Jesus knows he'll be betrayed, and by whom. I've always understood that ALL of it was Fated. Judas wasn't a traitor; he was just fulfilling his role in the whole thing. I personally have never had animosity toward Judas. I feel bad for him, because his role is surely one to condemn him to Hades, as Jesus seemed to indicate, but I also understand that someone had to play that role. The way I see it, ALL of the apostles betrayed Jesus in a way: they all scattered to the winds and didn't stay to help him or defend him. Mary his mother and Mary Magdaline stayed near him, though, and saw him die. I say, those two should be sainted. I guess Mary the Mother IS sainted. But poor Magdaline, gets the shaft. And the controversy. I won't go into that whole theory here, but regardless, I think women in general got the shaft by The Church.
But anyway...about Judas? Give the man a break, I say. It was all going to happen, and there had to be players in the scene that we don't understand. I understand Judas more than the Pharisees and the people who called for Jesus to die. Those people must truly have a horrible fate. Bottom line is, if people hadn't fulfilled their roles, though, where would we be? We'd all be headed to a very dark place for eternity. I'm a huge fan of The Dark, but for my eternal life, I like the Light.

It's Palm Sunday. A good day to remember the sacrifices people make for us, every day.
It's also Dad's birthday. Happy Day!

My Sacrifices
1) Coffee. I've had none in 2006. People are constantly amazed. I'm a much calmer person now.
2) Sugar. That's next on the list. Domino's Sugar will file for bankruptcy when I give it up.
3) Toys. Damn! You mean I have to grow up? But WHY?
4) Sex. Celibacy has its perks. Like, nuns admire me.
5) Red Meat. I cheat on this one occasionally, because burgers just rock the house! But the cows feel better knowing they won't be a roast because of me.

haha

Have a great day!
